What you need to know:

• Auditions are for singers entering grades 4 - 8 and high school treble singers who want to audition for the Cecilia Ensemble. For singers in grades K-3, and high schoolers who are looking for a non-auditioned choir, go here.
• Auditions are usually scheduled for August and January
• All auditions are private, and take 20 minutes

What to expect:

• Esther is positive and encouraging so that even the most timid singer feels comfortable.
• Singers will be asked some friendly questions, and then start singing
• The goal of the audition is for the directors to meet the singer(s), listen to their full range & tone quality, and ability to match pitch. Ability to read music is not required.
• Sing Happy Birthday or a song of your choice!
• Singers will be notified of acceptance at the end of the audition.

To lower the risk of spreading Covid-19, GMYC is following protocols set by national singing organizations. During rehearsals, singers wear specially made singers masks (provided by GMYC) that make breathing and moving the mouth much easier while masked. We rehearse at a distance, and when indoors the windows are open and exhaling air, and hepa filters are on.
