Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs (GMYC) is the performance-based choral music education program for young singers in our community. Founded in 1997, GMYC serves more than 100 singers per year in ensembles rehearsing in Keene and Peterborough, NH. Singers come from 20 different towns throughout the Monadnock Region. GMYC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) arts organization.
Rise Up Conductor/Teacher

Rise Up Teacher/Conductor – Part Time
Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs is seeking a teacher/conductor to lead rehearsals with GMYC’s youngest ensembles, Rise Up Peterborough and Rise Up Keene for the 2024-2025 Season. GMYC’s Rise Up ensembles provide the opportunity for children in grades K-3 to sing, dance, move, and learn music together. The Rise Up teacher/conductor will teach music literacy including sol-feg and kodály rhythms alongside aural skills, spoken poetry, folksongs, spirituals, and standard choral repertoire, within a performance-based growth mindset framework.
Each session of Rise Up takes place over the course of 8 weeks, culminating with a private and immersive show-and-tell style performance for Rise Up families and their guests. There are three Rise Up sessions per year for each ensemble: September-November, January – March, March-May.

Qualifications include
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music plus 2 years of relevant work experience, or at least 5 years of experience working in the field of Music Education
- Demonstrate commitment to the Monadnock Region
- Flexible schedule, including the ability to work occasional additional rehearsals, and for events on weekends
- Pro-active, flexible, and positive attitude
