Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs Announces Rise Up, a New Singing Ensemble for Children Grades K-32/18/2022 Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs is proud to introduce Rise Up, a new non-audition singing ensemble for children in grades K-3. After GMYC reopened in the fall, GMYC collected information from local families with young children who expressed interest in a singing ensemble for children in grades K-3. Using the recommendations from these families, GMYC created Rise Up. GMYC will host seven 1-hour classes for children in grades K-3 culminating in a private performance for families and guests. Rehearsals will be full of singing and movement and will enrich the music education of participants through dance, toys/props, rhymes and poetry, performance etiquette, singing a variety of music, and playing rhythmic and melodic games. Rise Up will be directed by Esther Rhoades, the Artistic Director of Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs. She has directed choirs and taught music to singers of all ages for more than 13 years. Her energetic teaching style, expertise in music, and infectious positivity allow GMYC singers to thrive and grow not only musically, but also as individuals. Esther is thrilled to be introducing this new ensemble! “There’s nothing better than taking children on a journey, and through singing, transform the room into a noisy jungle or a noisy buzzing forest! I’m jumping for joy!" Rise Up will meet Saturday mornings from 9:30am-10:30am in Peterborough. . Dates of the classes are March 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and May 7th. Singers may be dropped off, or parents/caregivers and young siblings are welcome to stay and participate. Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Tuition is $120 per child. Siblings in grades K-3 can take advantage of a family discount and register for reduced tuition of $100. Tuition is due by the first practice. Space is limited and registration is due by March 12th. To register and for additional information visit us at www.GrandMonadnockYouthChoirs.org. Prior to each rehearsal, GMYC asks that all participants and accompanying family members conduct a Covid-19 check at home. If you have any symptoms of Covid-19, please do not return to the class until you have received a negative at-home or PCR test. Everyone in the rehearsal space over the age of 2 years is required to be properly masked. Singers should wear a comfortable mask that they can wear for the duration of the class. The rehearsal space will provide outside air circulation. Grand Monadnock Youth Choirs is the performance-based choral music program for young singers in the Monadnock Region. GMYC has served thousands of singers in five different choirs rehearsing in Keene and Peterborough, drawing participants from more than 20 towns in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
